What is SPRINT?

SPRINT stands for Summer PRogram in INTernationalization. The SPRINT training program is a unique US international immersion experience. Similar to AMERIGO but more concentrated, students are immersed for four weeks into seminars, workshops, practical exercises, company visits, and special events focused on international business. In particular, students can expect a major focus on Business English communications, negotiating skills, business plans, and much more.

Why join SPRINT?

The SPRINT program is an excellent opportunity for students, beginning executives, and rising entrepreneurs who are laying the groundwork for a career in an international environment. SPRINT offers a crash course between classroom and career and equips students to tackle their professional careers with more confidence, hands-on work skills, improved English, and polished presentation skills.

How does SPRINT work?

The SPRINT program is a unique, intensive immersion experience that combines instruction, application, business English refinement classes, and company visits. You will begin with intensive orientation, followed by seminars, workshops, practical hands-on experience, and company visits to Washington DC-area companies and organizations. You will be exposed to the kind of international environment in which you are likely to find yourself working. You will meet, interact with, and form connections with students, businesspeople, and colleagues from several countries and backgrounds. You will leave with a much wider horizon and set of experiences than you came with.

How can I apply?

Please email a motivation letter and a resume – both in English – with your contact information to apply@advanse.com. We will review your documents and contact you by email to arrange for the next steps, including an interview in person, by phone or Skype. After the interview, you will be notified of your acceptance status. We will give you additional instructions regarding fee fulfillment upon acceptance.

Who will I be meeting?

You will meet teachers, practitioners, students, businesspeople, and staff from all over the world. You will also meet many fellow trainees – some from your own home country, and others from around the world.

Where does SPRINT take place?

SPRINT takes place in the Washington DC-metro region. All courses, seminars and workshops take place in downtown DC offices that are Metro accessible. Some company visits are located in downtown DC and others are in the suburbs of Virginia and Maryland.  Transportation will be provided to any locations not accessible by Metro.

How long is the SPRINT program? And when does it start?

SPRINT is four weeks long and runs in the summer, typically in August.

Start and end dates vary slightly. If you are interested in finding out exact start dates and deadlines for the next session, please send email to apply@advanse.com.

What will I get out of SPRINT and how does it differ from AMERIGO?

Both SPRINT and AMERIGO offer training, business English and the experience needed to launch a career in the international business world. The AMERIGO program, is offered over a three month period and includes an internship. If your schedule cannot accommodate a three month program, SPRINT offers similar content and experiences in a condensed, one month long session and includes company visits in place of an internship. SPRINT culminates in a final project – a business plan or marketing plan summary presented to a panel of experts for evaluation. You will also receive a final certificate of completion.

How much does the program cost?

SPRINT program fees are $3950 per session.

What does the price cover?

The program fee for SPRINT covers all seminars, workshops, materials, activities, company visits, and events, as well as your accommodation for the entire program.

Who pays for my spot in the SPRINT program?

You are responsible for all program fees, including travel, insurance, and living expenses. Some students have benefitted from local grants and scholarships from their native countries. Please check with your university’s offices if you qualify for any of them.

Where will I live?

Advanse International will secure housing for you during your participation in the SPRINT program. The specific housing option depends on availability and is typically at the International Student House (ISH) or in shared, furnished apartments.

How will I get around?

Metro! Washington DC’s metro system (which includes rail and bus) serves millions daily in the DC-region. All SPRINT courses, seminars, and workshops are metro accessible.  You can find information on everything from fares to routes on metro’s website.

Why should I go through the SPRINT program?

As hundreds of alum from the last 15 years will tell you, a formal education may be an indispensable and solid foundation for your international business career. But you are so much better equipped for success in international business if you experience what the SPRINT program exposes you to:

  • Diversity – of people, cultures, backgrounds, approaches, experiences, and ideas. Particularly in the summertime, when Washington DC becomes a tourist destination for people from all over the US, and the world.
  • Real Life – It’s a huge leap from classroom to career, even for the most diligent student. SPRINT gives you an opportunity to experience the little and real things that are useful in career, and don’t appear in a text book.
  • Company Visits – There is no substitute for real life experience, and SPRINT’s company visits gives you the opportunity to observe, interview, and get to know American business culture and practices.
  • Confidence – Being immersed in a cosmopolitan, largely English speaking culture, being given responsibility, asked to take initiative, being held accountable for presentations in group settings, the intensive exposure to people from all over the world; all of this gives our students a great deal of real-life experience and confidence as they go out into the job market or new careers.
  • Competitive Advantage – Completion of the SPRINT program gives you a strong advantage over your peers in your job search and career progression.
